Scoop is a lifestyle blog that focuses on everything from food to fashion, design to DIY. All of our content is done with thriftiness in mind. We're all students, who aren't willing to sacrifice living well for overpriced textbooks. When you choose to attend one of the most expensive universities in the country, a $4 shirt can seem like a rip-off, this blog is a record of our frugal finds and make-do misadventures.
Jean Ketterling
Oh hello there.
My name is Jean and I'm a 22-year-old perma-student. An Anthropology and Women's Studies grad, living in rainy Antigonish, I am currently working on a monster master's research proposal that mixes fashion with academia.
When I met Meghan we bonded over s'more crackers and social sciences homework. When I met Tara we bonded over shoes and gin & tonics. Regardless of the age, I always tend to choose friends who prove to be competition when digging through the bins at the local Frenchy's.

I tend to make messes that I don't clean up, drink cheap wine, and rarely submit my editorials for The Xaverian Weekly on time. In my down time I obsess about typography and try to learn to use semi-colons.
Currently longing for west-facing windows and a well stocked kitchen.
You can read my work at xaverianweekly.ca and jkthatswhatshesaid.blogspot.com.

Meghan McGrattan
Oh, hey! I’m Meghan. Supposedly I’m 21 years old, but judging by my love of sewing, scrabble, and nubbly sweaters I think my actual age is closer to 71. I’m a Leadership and Biology grad, a recent survivor of the Medical College Admissions Test, and a shamelessly spazzy dancer. Working away in Fredericton, New Brunswick, having as many adventures as possible before I sign my life (and income for the next decade) away to science. When I feel sad, I self-medicate by thrifting.
Growing up, I was that know-it-all kid who inexplicably wore DIY bedazzled spandex shorts-and-crop-top ensembles while performing autopsies on bugs. I haven’t changed much.
Nicki Minaj is my spirit animal.
If you want to join me on the Twitter machine, I'm @mcgrattitude.
I am exclusive to this blog. You're welcome.

Tara MacInnis
Hello! I’m Tara!
I’m a 22-year-old master’s in journalism student at Ryerson University, which means I’ll be stuck in glorious Toronto for the next two years. I finished my undergraduate degree in business administration last May, and was glad to complete the chapter of my life that revolved around Porter’s Five Forces and spreadsheets.
My hobbies include making fun of Jean for her typography obsession, and convincing Meghan to make fun of Jean for her typography obsession. I also enjoy Googling any random wonderance that pops into my brain, because I don’t believe in not knowing things when you’ve got the Interwebs.
The majority of my wardrobe hails from the OpShop, a small second-hand store in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, and that has always been and will always be.
Right now, I am doing my very best to figure out how to trade the Toronto concrete jungle for either coast next summer.
